The US warns Chinese tankers against turning off transponders

The US government has warned Cosco-owned Dalian Tankers "very heavily" against turning off the AIS systems on its ships. Dalian Tankers denies having turned off the transponders.

The White House warns Chinese shipping companies against turning off their so-called AIS systems, as several of them have allegedly done since the US imposed sanctions against Cosco-owned shipping company Dalian Tankers, reports Reuters.
