38 large bulkers and tankers are having scrubbers installed right now

38 large bulk and tanker vessels are currently being retrofitted with scrubbers, and more will come over the next months, shows a new report by Clarksons Platou. The installations will benefit tanker rates in particular.

The new IMO global sulfur regulations are rapidly approaching, and because of this, shipyards have been busy for a while now, working at full speed to install scrubbers on a large number of vessels.

A snapshot reveals that a total of 38 large dry bulk and tanker ships are currently being retrofitted with scrubbers. Additionally, 2.4 percent of the container fleet has been taken out of operation for the same reason, shows a new report by Clarksons Platou.
