Not since 1976 have there been delivered as many VLCC vessels as is the case in 2019, reports Bimco. The association says that the many news ships could become a challenge.

2019 has seen a record number of new VLCC vessels hit the market.

In the past 43 years, there have not been as many new crude oil supertankers delivered as is the case this year, as a total of 65 VLCCs have been delivered in the first 11 months of the year. This is the highest number since 1976, according to Bimco.
