Maersk Tankers CEO confident in even better result for full-year

The upswing in the first half of 2020 has been so strong that Maersk Tankers CEO Christian M. Ingerslev is confident in a better result for the entire year compared to 2019. However, the market will decline before long, he tells ShippingWatch in an interview.

The first six months of 2020 could end up being an unusually strong half-year for Maersk Tankers and Maersk Product Tankers.

The tanker operator has ridden the wave of the upturn that reached historic heights for the product tanker sector around April, but which is now tapering off, although spot rates are in fact still decent at USD 28,000 per day for an LR2 tanker.
