Investment firm Stonepeak acquires Canadian Teekay LNG Partners

Stonepeak takes over Teekay Corporation's LNG business, Teekay LNG Partners, at a price of USD 6.2 billion. The LNG carrier will gain better growth opportunities under the ownership of the investment fund, according to Teekay.

Canadian carrier Teekay Corporation has sold its liquefied natural gas (LNG) business, Teekay LNG Partners, to US investment firm Stonepeak for USD 6.2 billion, reports Teekay in a press release.

The sale is a result of Teekay's board of directors assessing that the LNG company will gain better growth opportunities under Stonepeak's ownership.
