Continued uncertainty in tanker market despite OPEC support

The tanker market can look forward to growing volumes in January after OPEC+ decided to raise output. What comes after January is shrouded in uncertainty, writes Clarksons Platou.

Last week, operators in the strained tanker market received a "welcome surprise" in the shape of the OPEC+ decision to raise output by an additional 400,000 barrels in January, writes Clarksons Platou in an update.

"With additional barrels coming in January, especially from the Middle East, rates can be expected to see further improvement," the broker firm writes while also stressing that the coming months are characterized by much uncertainty for the tanker market.
