Former top executive of Frontline Robert Hvide Macleod is on the way to become part of Norden’s board of directors.
This is evident from the proposals for Norden’s annual general meeting, which will be held later in March. Here, Macleod is suggested as new member of the carrier’s board.
From 2014 to 2020, Macleod was in charge of John Fredriksen-controlled tanker operator Frontline. And it is, among other things, his shipping experience that is stressed in Norden’s board change suggestion. Besides the leading position in Frontline, Macleod played an important role in building up the shipping activities at Glencore, where he previously worked.
Furthermore, it’s Macleod’s more recent activities within green fuels and sustainability which has made him interesting to Norden.
”Experience within both trade and shipping with managing experience from ship-owning carriers and from operators. Experience from companies with global activities, risk management and management structures as well as cultural diversity,” it says about Macleod.
Second prominent figure in few years
It’s the second time within few years that the Danish dry bulk and tanker carrier includes a prominent figure in the board. In 2018, CEO of Danish Commodities Helle Østergaard Kristiansen came onboard.
Norden’s annual general meeting will take place on March 24 and come in the wake of a year 2021 in which an extraordinarily strong dry bulk market resulted in a total result of USD 205m.
For the general meeting, elections of current board members Klaus Nyborg (chair), Johanne Riegels Østergaard (vice chair), Karsten Knudsen, Helle Østergaard Kristiansen and Stephen John Kunzer are also suggested.
Macleod will replace Tom Intrator as member of the board.
Macleod owns the company Hans Hvide & Co. and currently holds seats on boards at several companies, including, among others, HVPD, where he is chair, Aquaship, Green Transition Holding and Soiltech.
