Euronav rejects criticism from CMB that merger will reduce focus on decarbonization

In the drama surrounding the merger between tanker majors Euronav and Frontline, one of the arguments from Euronav’s biggest shareholder, the Saverys family, is that the merger will pull Euronav in the wrong direction on the green agenda. Euronav tells ShippingWatch that the company rejects this criticism.

Euronav has clear climate ambitions which will not be derailed by a merger with John Fredriksen-controlled Frontline, despite criticism from its main shareholder that such a move would pull the tanker carrier in the wrong direction regarding decarbonization.
