Hafnia sets to receive the first of four newbuilds to be chartered to two major oil corporations.

In January 2023, the tank carrier receives the vessel Hafnia Languedoc from Chinese Guangzhou Shipyard International.

The ship is the first in a line of four tank vessels owned by a joint venture of Hafnia and Chinese CSSC Shipping.

All the vessels are dual-fueled, meaning they run on both regular fuel and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Upon delivery, the vessels will be chartered to oil companies Equinor and Total Energies, writes Hafnia in a statement.

“We are confident these vessels will pave the path for alternative fuel enabled vessels entering the Hafnia fleet in future”, states Ralph Juhl, EVP Technical at Hafnia.

Next in line, Hafnia Loire, is set for completion in April 2023 and takeover of all four vessels is expected to be complete by 2024.

Hafnia is owned by BW Group with Danish national Mikal Skov at the helm. The Oslo-listed carrier works out of Singapore and Hellerup north of Copenhagen.
