Tankers undaunted by attacks keep sailing in the Red Sea

The number of tanker ships have been largely unaffected by the Red Sea attacks and cargo crisis that has impacted large parts of the shipping sector.

While container ship traffic dropped significantly in the Red Sea in December 2023 as a result of attacks by Houthi militants, the number of tankers sailing those waters remained largely unchanged, according to a Reuters analysis based on ship tracking data.
