The tanker market went through a much-needed improvement in the second half of 2013, and the coming year will bring a rebound for the crude oil tankers, according to analysts Platou in a new quarterly analysis of the shipping market.
"Whereas 2013 saw burgeoning strength in product tankers and dry bulk, we believe 2014 will be the year of crude tankers. A possible end to the US crude export ban could mean demand surprises to the upside," says Platou, referring to the 40-year-old ban.
