Asset value impairments send BW LPG into the red

Impairments on asset values and lower rates for LPG transports hit VLGC market leader BW LPG with a major deficit in the second quarter this year. The future looks challenging, notes management.

The biggest player in the market for LPG transports, Oslo-listed VLGC carrier BW LPG, finished the first half of the year in a state that looks far removed from the carrier's condition just one year ago. A big slide in rates along with asset value impairments are cited as key triggers.
