Giant sails to help Maersk Tankers vessel save fuel

A vessel from Maersk Tankers will now be equipped with two 30-meter tall  rotating sails which will help cut up to ten percent from its fuel consumption.

One of Maersk Tankers' vessels will soon be equipped with two so-called rotor sails which will help reduce the vessel's fuel consumption.

This will happen as part of a test project in a cooperation between the carrier, Norsepower, UK-based ETI (Energy Technologies Institute), and Shell Shipping & Maritime, according to a press release.
