Crude oil tanker rates circling three-year low

The upcoming interim reports from leading tanker carriers in crude oil in particular could contain depressing news for owners and investors.

With the current spot rates for very large crude carriers (VLCCs) at less than USD 10,000 per day, marking a three-year low, the upcoming quarterly and half-year reports from the listed tanker carriers look set to be depressing reading for shipowners and shareholders.
