Denmark criticizes South Korea's maritime state subsidies

South Korea is planning extensive state subsidies for shipbuilders and carriers, and the Danish Minister for Business describes these plans as problematic. "It tips the balance on the market. South Korea's government is ready to present a large financial aid package to the country's carriers and shipbuilders. This is a serious problem, says the Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Brian Mikkelsen, who is currently on an official visit in South Korea along with several Danish shipping companies.

"State aid is a problem that tips the balance on the market. This is why we're pushing to have the OECD review state subsidies to shipbuilders," he tells ShippingWatch.
