Seaspan CEO: Modern container ships are more important than ever

Consolidation and the creation of new container alliances give rise to ever-growing demands on the shipowners that charter vessels to liner companies.

The container industry is rapidly changing as carriers buy each other and new alliances arise.

This makes increasingly large demands on the actual owners of the ship tonnage, namely the firms that charter the ships to major container carriers. One example is the world's largest owner of ships, New York-listed Seaspan, says CEO Bing Chen in an interview with ShippingWatch.
