EU moves closer to screening of Chinese acquisitions

The EU has taken another step toward a joint screening mechanism aimed at foreign investments in order to weed out unwanted acquisitions, following, among other factors, China's appetite for European ports. Danish Shipping calls for caution.

With 30 to seven votes delivered Monday night, the members of the EU Parliament's committee for international trade approved the EU Commission's proposal for new regulations allowing member states to screen international direct investment for security grounds.
