Hapag-Lloyd will not introduce emergency bunker surcharge

A number of market sources tell ShippingWatch that Hapag-Lloyd has no plans to introduce a new emergency bunker surcharge like the one announced by its main competitors Maersk Line, MSC and CMA CGM.

The industry will not unanimously support a new emergency bunker surcharge as announced by Maersk Line, MSC and CMA CGM.

At any rate, Hapag-Lloyd will not introduce an added surcharge, sources in the market tell ShippingWatch. The German liner company declines to comment on the information, but by Tuesday afternoon CET the company has still not made any statements concerning a bunker surcharge.
