Design improvements to vessels and technology enhancements have led to a reduction in the number of cargo ships lost to bad weather or other misfortune, according to a report.

The number of cargo ships lost to bad weather or other misfortune has tumbled over the past decade as design improvements to vessels and technology enhancements helped make the seas safer, according to an Allianz SE report.
