European shipowners want more yards on EU's scrapping list

The European Community Shipowners' Association wants the EU to add more yards to its list of approved sipbreakers. The latest comments follows shortly after two NGOs criticized shipowners for calling for more scrapping capacity.

The EU should continue its efforts to inspect shipyards in order to expand the list of facilities approved for scrapping EU-flagged ships when the new shipbreaking regulations come into force from the new year, says the European Community Shipowners' Association (ECSA) in a press release.
