IMO adopts heavy fuel carriage ban

The ban on carrying high-sulfur fuel oil aboard ships not equipped with scrubbers has finally been adopted by the IMO. The regulation will take effect from March 2020 shortly after the implementation of the general global sulfur cap. "Major milestone," according to Maersk.

As of March 2020, it will be forbidden to carry high-sulfur fuel oil (HSFO) aboard vessels unless they are equipped with a scrubber.
