Drone to expose potential sulfur violators in Denmark

Authorities in Denmark is now in the process of testing the use of a drone in the efforts to locate ships exceeding sulfur limits. The drone is on loan from an EU agency.

In the coming months, Denmark will test whether drones can be used to locate potential sulfur violators in Danish waters.

For this purpose, Denmark has borrowed a drone from the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). The plan is for the drone to patrol Denmark's Great Belt for the next three months, where the drone will measure passing vessels' sulfur emissions, says Denmark's Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs.
