Maersk and BMW to develop ship fuel from alcohol

Maersk and BMW will in collaboration with several partners develop a new ship fuel using ethanol. The announcement comes shortly after Maersk pointed out three fuel types that the group is betting on.

Shipping companies Maersk and Wallenius Wilhelmsen join forces with major companies such as BMW Group, H&M and Levi Strauss Co. as well as the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, to develop a new type of ship fuel from ethanol and lignin.
