First Asian bank joins Poseidon Principles

A Japanese financial institution is joining banking majors' climate requirements for the shipping industry. Chairman of the Poseidon Principles expects this development to lead the way for even more Asian banks joining the initiative.

The first Asian financial institution joins the Poseidon Principles.

The bank in question is Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank (SMTB), which thus brings the total number of banks supporting the initiative to 18.

3i buys AMP out of Esvagt

Private equity firm 3i, which owns half of carrier Esvagt, has agreed with the company's second owner, AMP Capital, to take over all of Esvagt for GBP 268 million, making 3i the sole owner. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022.
