Wallenius Wilhelmsen lays off 2,500 employees temporarily

Norwegian car carrier Wallenius Wilhelmsen has temporarily dismissed more than half its production staff in the US and Mexico due to the corona crisis.

Ro-ro shipping line Wallenius Wilhelmsen temporarily fires 2,500 employees in the US and Mexico as a consequence of the corona crisis, the company states in a stock exchange notice.

"While we work diligently to avoid reductions in our workforce, we have no choice but to respond to the disruption experienced by our customers and the effect it has on our operational throughput and income," says Wallenius Wilhelmsen President and Chief Executive Craig Jasienski in the notice.
