New alliance of shipowners want politicians to ensure crew changes

Shipping lines like Norden and Grieg Star as well as ship managers like V.Group and Synergy have banded together in a distress call to politicians, who should immediately ensure than crews can be changed aboard vessels. They propose eight specific ports for crew changes.

A number of the world's major shipping companies now band together in a joint call on politicians, by which they urge intently that it should be possible to change crews aboard ships hit by corona restrictions.

The companies represent more than 1,500 vessels and 70,000 seafarers and include Norden, Grieg Star, Reederei Nord, Dynacom, V.Group, Wilhelmsen Ships Service, Pacific Carriers Limited, Magsaysay, Augustea, Columbia Ship Management, Inchcape Shipping Services and Synergy Group.
