Global order book for new commercial vessels at 30-year low

Uncertainty about the global economy and global trade has led to the lowest newbuild order book for commercial vessels since 1989, shows new analysis from Danish Shipping.

Despite record-high freight rates and strong earnings among container lines, among others, many shipyards across the globe are looking at half empty order books.

The need among shipping lines for ordering new container, tanker or dry bulk ships has been very slight in 2020.
