EU expects to hold first meeting in migrant contact group in March

It is up to the member states themselves to come up with a long-term solution to ensure that migrants do not end up stranded on board merchant vessels, but the Commission is working to create a contact group to help with the work.

It is up to the members states in the EU to ensure that a situation like the on board Maersk Etienne, where 27 migrants were stranded for 38 days, never happens again.
