
The total bill for insurance companies in connection with container ship Ever Given’s grounding last year in the Suez Canal could end up being more than USD 2bn, writes French reinsurer SCOR in a thorough report on lessons learned by the six-day blockage that resulted in supply chain delays several months long.
SCOR states that handling all damage claims tied to Ever Given’s grounding could take years, adding that the process would also lead to lots of debate on which party is ultimately liable.
