Freighters reduce average sailing speed by 4 percent

During the pandemic, carriers increased the average sailing speed due to strong freight demand. The speed has now been lowered and is expected to drop further, Bimco estimates.

Container vessels have reduced their average speed significantly as demand on freight has dropped after the bustling Covid years for shipping, shows a new analysis from Bimco.
