Whereas the global fleet has increased, the UK and Denmark have seen their registered fleets of container ships diminish the most in the years since 2019.

The UK-flagged container fleet has lost almost two percentage points of its market share during the period, Sea-Intelligence writes.

Denmark comes in second with a reduced fleet of just over 1 percentage point, followed by Marshall Islands and Hong Kong.

The global fleet has grown by 15 percent during the period measured on deadweight tonnage (dwt).

These vessels have primarily been registered in countries such as Liberia and Malta, both of which have grown strongly in the period, writes the analytics company.

So have South Korea, Singapore and Japan.

Panama is the world’s largest flag state, followed by Liberia and Marshall Islands.
