Norwegian Grieg Edge and Peak Group’s joint venture has ordered four new multipurpose vessels from Huanghai Shipbuilding in South Korea.

The order comes with an option for four more of the 7,000-dwt vessels, the company says in a statement.

”These vessels are far more climate-friendly than what we see in the short-sea market in Europe today, with very low fuel consumption. They are not what we envision as the final climate solution for shipping, but they are a huge step in the right direction,” says Skarv Shipping Solutions’ CEO, Jan Øivind Svardal.
