EU will look at ways to curtail reflagging of scrap-ready ships

The Commission will investigate how it can intervene against shipping companies that reflag ships and send them to be scrapped outside Europe.

The EU wants to do away with a well-known loophole where European ships are reflagged to be scrapped at shipyards outside Europe.
