US sanctions Houthi financers following attacks on ships

According to the US Treasury Department, targets of the sanctions include an Iran-based financier, Said al-Jamal, who provides funds to the Houthi rebels.

An individual and three money exchange companies were accused and sanctioned by the US on Thursday for allegedly facilitating the flow of funds from Iran to the Yemeni Houthi rebels, who have recently been behind a series of attacks on merchant ships around the Red Sea.
