Bridge collapses in the US after being struck by a container ship
A bridge in the American city of Baltimore in the state of Maryland collapsed overnight on Tuesday local time after a cargo ship hit the bridge.
This is according to Fox News Baltimore.
It is not known if there are any fatalities.
However, the city’s fire department told Swedish news agency TT that approximately seven people and probably several vehicles fell into the water.

Police describe the people as ”workers”.
Several users have posted videos on social media site X showing the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsing over the Patapsco River.
The Baltimore Coast Guard confirmed the accident to The New York Times.
According to the Coast Guard, the cargo ship ”Dali”, flying the Singapore flag, hit the bridge in the American city.
The ship was leaving the port of Baltimore on its way to Colombo, Sri Lanka, when it struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
Norwegian media VG has spoken to Baltimore police. Investigator Niki Fennoy told VG that the police received a report at 01:35 - 06:35 Danish time - of a partial bridge collapse.
The police, like the Coast Guard, state that several bridge workers may have fallen into the water.
At 7 a.m. Maryland Department of Transportation (MDTA) wrote on X that all lanes on the bridge were closed to traffic.
According to Reuters, the bridge is approximately 2.5 kilometers long. The bridge is constructed of steel and was completed in 1977.
