Svitzer appoints new commercial director for Europe

The large towage service operator, which is heading for an IPO, brings in a new commercial director for the European business.

As of April 1, 2024, Svitzer has appointed Sara Gerdner Kalle as new commercial director for the European business, according to the tugboat company, which is also on its way to being listed on the stock exchange.

Gerdner Kalle brings 25 years of experience in logistics and supply chain companies, Svitzer writes in a press release.

Prior to joining Svitzer Europe, Gerdner Kalle was head of the eCommerce Logistics team at Maersk APAC.

In addition, she has previously held leadership roles at Singapore Post, DB Schenker and H&M, where she worked in customer relations.

”I come with experience from Singapore and Asia in different areas of the supply chain, both from the service provider, customer and start-up perspective,” Gerdner Kalle says in the press release.

Operating in 37 countries and 140 ports, Svitzer is the largest international tugboat operator in a market characterized by many smaller players.

The tugboat company, currently owned by the Maersk Group, is in the process of being spun off as an independent publicly listed company.

When Svitzer goes public and the shares are listed on April 30, it will be with A.P. Moller Holding as the largest shareholder with an ownership share of 41.5%.
