Good news for the container traffic on the most important route from Asia to Europe: the spot rate on the stretch has increased with 9.7 percent since last week, which is an increase of 120 USD to 1,360 USD per TEU. This is the report from Reuters which has a source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index.
“This is unusually good news, and it adds hope that the rate level on Asia-Europe can maintain a far better level in the near future than what we saw in the second quarter. It supports our expectations that Maersk Line can raise earnings a decent amount this year,” says senior analyst Jacob Pedersen from Sydbank to Reuters.
