
July and August are traditionally busy months for US container imports, as the country gears up for the holiday season. But this July was extra busy, and volumes reached the highest monthly level since July 2007, writes American analysts Zepol. The United States imported a total of 1.69 million teu, 13 percent more than last month and two percent more than July last year.
“July and August are the two busiest months as American retailers prep for the holidays and this July had a much higher import volume than expected,” says Zepol CEO Paul Rasmussen.
