Scorpio Tankers is not running out of steam, as the carrier seems to be snatching up ships with no end in sight. And yesterday, Thursday, was no exception. In a brief to the stock exchange, the company announced that it has signed an agreement to take over four new MR product tankers in return for issuing shares, including shares for the large Greek management company Ceres Hellenic Shipping Enterprises.
The four ships are currently being built at at a shipyard in South Korea and are expected to be delivered in the first quarter 2014. Scorpio Tankers already has other ships of the same type under construction at the yard, says the company. The price is around USD 151 million, which is, according to Tradewinds, a little higher than the original USD 132 million price of the order.
