Maersk Line now follows in the wake of several other carriers who plan to attempt a rate increase in January. The light-blue carrier will add another USD 250 per twenty-foot container, teu, to the freight rate on all transports from the Far East to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, said the carrier in its weekly newsletter published Christmas Eve, pointing to high demand and "strong pressure on our networks" in the January peak season ahead of the Chinese New Year.
