India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh together accounted for 71 percent of all shipbreaking in the world, and the market is strong even though the number of ships declined overall in 2013 compared to the year before.

1,119 ships were sent to scrapping last in 2013, a 16 percent decrease compared to 2012, which was an exceptionally good year, says environmental organization Robin des Bois (Robin Hood) according to Hellenic Shipping News.
