Seaspan distances itself from German shipowners

While several German shipowners in the container industry have reset their newbuilding programs, Seaspan has an orderbook approaching the size of the company's existing fleet.

While German shipowners, in particular, due to the banks' reservations and the collapse of the KG companies, have put their newbuildings on hold - or maintain very small orderbooks - New York-listed Seaspan is forging ahead as the world's largest so-called Non-Operating Owner (NOO).
