Piracy declined 13 percent in the 1st quarter

The number of pirate attacks decreased by 13 percent in the first quarter 2014, though piracy remains a very real threat, says analyst agency.

Analysts Dryad Maritime Intelligence has performed a survey of pirate incidents in the first quarter of 2014, and the result is positive at first glance: The total number of pirate attacks has gone down 13 percent compared to the same period last year. But piracy remains a very real threat to shipping, says Dryad Maritime Intelligence.
