
Several organizations are now calling for the Danish government to get the EU to look into the insufficient control of the sulphur content in fuel used by ships operating in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.
The regulations regarding sulphur in ship fuel will be tightened on January 1st 2015. The call comes in a joint statement to Minister for the Environment Kirsten Brosbøl (Social Democrat) from the Danish Shipowners' Association, the Danish Ecological Council, Danish Maritime, Danish Ports, and the Danish Metalworkers' Union.
