
The announcement that DFDS will close its historical Esbjerg-Harwich service this September will be the only announcement of this sort this year.
"This is the first step in a process where we're looking at costs. We do not at this time have plans for any additional closures. We've been struggling for some time with Esbjerg-Harwich, but with fuel costs reaching USD 3.7 million, we just had to face the fact that the route cannot be made profitable," CEO Niels Smedegaard tells ShippingWatch.
