Belgium forces ship to be scrapped in Turkey

After being retained for a month, Mitsui OSK Lines' car ship Global Spirit has been sent to scrapping in Turkey. The ship was otherwise headed for India when the Belgium authorities interfered.

The Belgian authorities were not willing to release the car ship Global Spirit - which has been detained for one month in Antwerp - until the owners agreed to have the vessel scrapped in Turkey, says Brussels-based NGO Shipbreaking Platform in a press release.
