Torm fends off pirate attack in Gulf of Aden

There was no harm done to the crew, the vessel, the cargo or the environment in the incident, the Danish shipping company Torm says.

A group of pirates were unsuccessful in boarding the Danish ship Torm Sofia as it sailed through the Gulf of Aden in the Arabian Sea this Saturday.There was no harm done to the crew, the vessel, the cargo or the environment in the incident, the Danish shipping company’s head of IR, Christian Søgaard-Christensen, said on Sunday.

Torm Sofia was heading from Sikka in India to New York, USA when the pirates approached the Danish ship in a skiff. Torm writes in a press release that “All actions performed were as per the procedures and the Rules for the use of force and subsequently the pirates abandoned their approach.”
