Final agreement for the Panama Canal ends dispute

After many months of disagreement between the Panama Canal and the construction consortium responsible for the expansion - the Spanish-led Grupos Unidos por el Canal - the two parties have now reached an agreement to complete the canal.

The Panama Canal and Grupos Unidors por el Canal have agreed on the final details of the agreement that will ensure that the canal will be ready by December next year.

The construction consortium Grupos Unidors por el Canal (GUPC) and the Panama Canal (ACP) have been in an open dispute related to financing of the massive project, but now the two parties have agreed on a deal that commits GUPC to have the project completed in a year and a half.
