Ballast water convention moves closer

Several contries have ratified the ballast water convention since the last meeting of the IMO's environmental committee MEPC. "We need to do everything we can to stop anything that could prevent a speedy implementation," says the Danish delegation.

The ballast water convention was off to a good start on the first day, Monday, of the meeting of the IMO's Marine Environment Protection Committee, MEPC. Since the last meeting of the comittee three more contries have ratified the convention. These are Tonga, Jordan and Congo.
