US Navy escorts British ships past Iran

The US Navy has now for several days escorted American vessels through the Strait of Hormuz following last week's incident where container vessel Maersk Tigris was detained. The Navy is now also escorting British vessels.

US naval vessels are now escorting commercial vessels sailing under British flag through the Strait of Hormuz.

The move is a consequence of Iran's arrest of cargo ship Maersk Tigris last week, says a Pentagon spokesman according to Reuters.
